Bridgestone Potenza S005 Tyres

Bridgestone's Potenza S005 is a high-performance sports tyre that Bridgestone engineered as original equipment for specific high-performance vehicles. It suits drivers of quick hatches, sedans and coupes who want precise steering and stability at speed on sealed roads. We currently offer the S005 online in 225/40R18 and 235/35R19, with the 19-inch size available in both an extra-load version and a BMW-marked version.

An original equipment design

Bridgestone lists the S005 as an original equipment product, which means it was developed to meet a vehicle manufacturer's strict requirements for handling, wet performance and wear life. The BMW-marked 235/35R19 shows it has been approved for BMW fitments, so if your car carries that marking on its current tyres, choosing the marked version keeps it close to the factory specification.

Shaped for stability and wet grip

The key design element is an optimised contact patch, which Bridgestone links to better high-speed stability and wet-road performance. Steering precision is another stated strength, so the car should respond cleanly through quick direction changes. Some S005 sizes also use Bridgestone's Enliten technology, which is designed to cut tyre weight and rolling resistance for better fuel economy.

Checking your fitment

Match the load index and speed rating on your tyre placard

Keep the same version across each axle

Choose the BMW-marked tyre if your car was supplied on one

Extra load (XL) versions are built to carry more weight at a given pressure, so follow the load index on your placard. The S005 is a road tyre designed with wet performance and wear life in mind, so it copes with daily driving in all weather. The trade-off is that it is tuned for sporty handling on low-profile sizes, so the ride is firmer than a comfort-focused touring tyre. If most of your driving is relaxed commuting, a touring tyre may suit you better.

The Bridgestone Potenza S005 is a factory-developed sports tyre for selected high-performance road applications, with stability and wet control shaped around those vehicle targets.
