Clearing water this way helps the tread keep contact with the road surface, which matters for braking and cornering during a sudden downpour.

Compound and comfort

The tread compound blends short and long polymer chains, a mix Continental uses to balance grip against wear, and adds silica reinforcement to lower rolling resistance for better fuel efficiency. Block sequencing and noise breaker grooves are designed to cut the sound generated as the tread meets the road, so the ride stays calm on the daily commute and on longer trips.

A mix of run-flat, XL and EV fitments

Run-flat (RF) builds in 225/45R17, 225/50R17 and 225/50R18 for cars that use run-flat tyres

An extra load (XL) 185/55R15 for small cars

An EV-marked 245/50R18 for electric vehicles

Run-flat tyres should normally be replaced with run-flats, so check what your car is fitted with now before choosing a size. Price depends on size, and current pricing for each size is shown in the listing above. Prices include fitting and balancing.

How does the TechContact TC6 perform on wet roads?

Wet-road safety is central to its design, with the drainage elements and grooves working to move water out of the footprint so the tyre stays connected to the road. That said, no tyre removes the need to slow down in heavy rain, and grip falls as tread depth wears. Keep pressures at the placard figure and check tread depth regularly.
