Shop 2,100 18-inch wheels from $162 for late-model utes, sedans and SUVs. About 1,500 are 4x4 designs and around 600 are for cars and SUVs.
For utes and 4x4s
- 6x139.7: around 650 wheels, mostly 18x9.
- 5x150: about 100 wheels for LandCruiser owners.
- 12x135-139.7: dual-drilled wheels that also fit the Ford F-150.
- Top brands: Fuel with more than 500, plus ROH, KMC and Grid.
For cars and SUVs
- Patterns: 5x114.3 leads, then 5x120, 5x112 and 5x100.
- Brands: Motegi and Niche have the most car designs.
- Tyre profile: an 18-inch tyre is usually 40 to 55 profile, sporty without the firmness of 19s and 20s.
What 18s do to a ute's ride
Moving a ute from 16 or 17 to 18 inches shortens the sidewall. Steering feels sharper on the road. You lose some cushioning on corrugations and room to air down, so 18s suit mostly bitumen with the odd gravel road.
Before you buy
- Load rating. Utes that tow need a rating that covers their loaded weight.
- Offset. Car fitments need close-to-factory offsets, so check the number.
- Centre bore. Use a ring where the bore is larger than your hub.
- Overall diameter. Keep the tyre close to standard height so the speedo reads true.
Matching tyres
Compare highway tyres for utes and SUVs, or sport performance tyres for cars.
Choosing 18s for your vehicle
- Late-model ute on factory 18s: a like-for-like 18x8 or 18x8.5 keeps the ride you are used to.
- Ute moving up from 17s: expect a slightly firmer ride and fewer off-road tyre sizes.
- Sports sedan: a 40 or 45-profile tyre on an 18 gives sharp steering without being harsh.
- Family SUV: a 55 or 60-profile tyre on an 18 keeps comfort and pothole protection.
Whatever you drive, check the wheel's load rating against the compliance plate before you order.
Common questions
Are 18s a good choice for touring?
For mostly sealed roads, yes. For rough tracks, the 17-inch range keeps more sidewall.
What if I want a bolder look?
Step up to 20-inch wheels, but expect a firmer ride.
Will 18s change my speedo reading?
Not if the tyre keeps the same overall diameter as the factory setup. Pick a profile that matches your current wheel-and-tyre height.
Do 18s suit gravel roads?
They cope with graded gravel well. On sharp rocks, the shorter sidewall leaves the rim more exposed, so drive to suit.
