The BMW iX1 is a compact electric SUV that spends most of its time on quiet commutes, school runs and weekend trips. Because it is heavy for its size and delivers instant torque, the right tyres balance comfort, low noise, wet-weather confidence and steering response, while meeting the load and speed ratings your car needs. Factory tyre sizes for the iX1

The factory size depends on which version you drive:

  • xDrive30 all-wheel drive (xLine, M Sport and later grades), 2023-on: 245/45R19
  • eDrive20 front-wheel drive (2023–2025 models): 225/55R18

Wheel packages vary, and some cars were ordered with optional wheels, so a size mentioned for another iX1 should not automatically be ordered for yours. The tyre placard on the driver's door jamb is the final word on size, load index and speed rating.

Choosing tyres for how you drive

Think about your experience with the current tyres. If they suit you, a comparable product is a sensible starting point. If you would like a quieter ride or a different feel, say what you notice and on which roads. Wet-road grip and price belong in the same conversation as comfort and response.

Three options to compare, each offered in both factory sizes:

  • Yokohama V553: an EV-oriented road tyre developed around low noise, comfort and efficient running.
  • Michelin E Primacy: an efficiency-focused tyre with low rolling resistance as its main priority.
  • Bridgestone Turanza 6: a touring tyre aimed at smooth, quiet travel and wet-weather control, suited to conventional, hybrid and electric cars.

EV-rated, XL and low-noise tyres

An xDrive30 weighs about 2085kg unladen, so load rating matters. Many 245/45R19 tyres are XL (extra load) construction, and you should never fit a tyre with a lower load index or speed rating than your placard specifies. Tyres marked EV are designed with electric cars in mind, for example for lower rolling resistance or reduced road noise, which becomes more noticeable in a quiet electric cabin. The label alone does not establish suitability or promise a particular change in range, so start with the correct size and ratings, then compare comfort, noise, wet-road and handling qualities. BMW markings and fitting advice

Some BMW tyres carry manufacturer markings or specific construction details, and a couple of the 245/45R19 tyres on this page are listed as BMW and Mercedes-Benz fitments. If you are considering a change from what is currently fitted, ask your local Bob Jane T-Marts store to check the complete requirements for your car. If one tyre is damaged or the previous set has worn unevenly, tell the store what is fitted now; a wheel alignment may be worth doing alongside new tyres.
