Wet-road control, short braking distances and long mileage are the focus of the Continental UltraContact UC6, a touring tyre for passenger cars. It is an everyday driving option for sedans, hatchbacks and compact crossovers that cover plenty of kilometres on sealed roads. Find all the UltraContact UC6 sizes on offer on our website, in 18-inch and 19-inch fitments.
Three ways the UC6 moves water
- Aqua Channel sipes on the tread surface draw water away from the contact patch
- Aqua Drainage elements push water through the grooves, targeting the centre of the tread where aquaplaning is most likely to start
- Diamond Edge chamfers on the tread blocks wipe water off the blocks and spread braking forces more evenly
Together these features are designed to keep the tyre connected to the road in the wet, while the chamfered blocks also help stopping distances on dry bitumen.
A compound that adapts to the job
Continental's Diamond Blend Compound mixes two types of polymer. Short grip polymers activate when you brake or turn, while longer, tightly interconnected polymers work to slow wear during straight-line driving. The result is a tyre aimed at drivers who want strong grip without giving up mileage, and low noise levels add to a relaxed ride.
Sizes and the newer UC7
The UC6 is listed here in a small range of larger-rim sizes: 205/45R18, 205/55R19 and 225/50R18. Continental has since released the Continental UltraContact UC7, which comes in a much wider spread of 16 to 19-inch sizes, so it is worth comparing both if your size appears in each.
FAQs
Which cars suit the Continental UltraContact UC6?
The 225/50R18 is the 18-inch fitment on the first-generation Toyota C-HR (225/50R18), and it also suits other compact SUVs and crossovers in that size. The 205/45R18 and 205/55R19 are less common sizes, so the vehicle or tyre size search on this page is the quickest way to check whether they match your car. Always confirm the size on your tyre placard or ask a store.
How much do Continental UltraContact UC6 tyres cost?
UltraContact UC6 tyres start from around $283 per tyre for the 205/55R19 and go up to about $338 for the 225/50R18. Price depends on size, and current pricing for each size is shown in the listing above. Prices include fitting and balancing.
Is the UltraContact UC6 a good choice for heavy rain?
Wet-road safety is the main focus of its design, with three separate features dedicated to clearing water and keeping grip. It still has limits: standing water at speed can cause any tyre to aquaplane, and wet grip drops as the tread wears. Drive to the conditions, keep pressures at the placard figure, and book a replacement at your local Bob Jane T-Marts store when the tread gets low.
