Designed with high mileage as its main goal, the Continental VanContact Ultra is a tyre for commercial vans. It is made for delivery drivers, trades and fleets whose vans spend long days on the road, often carrying full loads and brushing kerbs. A closed tread built for mileage
The shoulder rib has fewer and smaller lateral grooves than a more open pattern, which creates a larger contact area with the road. Continental credits this closed design for the tyre's mileage, and the bigger footprint also helps reduce pattern wear and road noise.
Sidewall protection against kerbs
Urban delivery work means constant contact with kerbs. The VanContact Ultra has a scuff rib running right around the sidewall plus thicker rubber blocks, which together stabilise the sidewall and lower the chance of kerb damage. Fewer damaged tyres means less downtime and fewer unplanned stops for the van.
A compound made for vans
Continental uses a van-specific compound with functionalised polymers to balance three things fleets care about: low rolling resistance for fuel use, robustness for durability, and wet grip. Every size listed is a commercial (C) construction with a dual load index, covering 15 to 19-inch rims for mid-size and large vans. Is the VanContact Ultra suited to heavy loads and long distances?
That is the job it is built for. The commercial construction, closed tread and reinforced sidewall suit vans that run loaded for long hours, and the compound is designed to keep rolling resistance low. Run the laden pressures on your placard when carrying heavy loads. It is not intended for rough unsealed tracks, where an all-terrain light truck tyre is a better fit.
