Designed for sports coupes, hot hatches and performance sedans, the Falken Azenis FK453 sits in the ultra high-performance class of road tyres. It was developed to give precise steering, strong wet and dry grip and stability at speed, while keeping noise in check for daily use. It sits within our sport and performance tyres, and we currently offer the FK453 online in 215/45R17.
Shaped by Nürburgring testing
Falken designed the FK453 from scratch as the successor to the FK452, applying knowledge gathered from race tyre testing at the Nürburgring. Its construction, which Falken calls NUR-Spec, uses a casing designed to resist warping plus an extra nylon-reinforced cover ply to improve high-speed stability. The profile is rounder, with a stiffer shoulder area for a better footprint when the car is loaded up in a corner.
Three grooves for water, offset bars for quiet
Three central grooves clear water from under the tyre, and staggered sipes in the first shoulder tread bar help the outer edge grip on wet bitumen. The compound was derived from Falken's race tyres and carries more silica to enlarge the contact area and improve grip. To keep the cabin calmer, the tread bars are phase-shifted, which Falken says lowers both rolling and pass-by noise, even in low-profile sizes.
Where the FK453 sits in the Azenis range
The FK453 is an earlier Azenis model, and Falken's current Australian line-up features the Azenis FK510 and the newer Falken FK520L, which is also offered in 215/45R17. If you are replacing a pair of FK453s, ask the team whether matching the pattern or fitting a full set makes more sense for your car. Use the vehicle or tyre size search on this page to confirm the fitment, then book a time at your local Bob Jane T-Marts store.
FAQs
Which cars suit the Falken FK453?
The 215/45R17 size is the factory fitment on many first-generation Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ sports coupes, and it also suits other small performance cars and hot hatches running 17-inch wheels in this size. Check the load index and speed rating on your tyre placard, or ask a store to confirm the correct size before you order.
How much do Falken FK453 tyres cost?
FK453 tyres are priced at around $265 per tyre for the 215/45R17. Price depends on size, and current pricing for each size is shown in the listing above. Prices include fitting and balancing.
Is the FK453 suited to cold, wet winter driving?
For Australian winters on sealed roads, yes. The water-clearing grooves, shoulder sipes and silica-rich compound were all designed with wet grip in mind. The trade-off is that it is a performance road tyre, not a snow tyre, so alpine trips still need chains where required. Its stiffer construction also suits drivers who value steering feel over a soft, cushioned ride.
