SX, SY and SZ are the first fitment filter on a used Ford Territory

This is the Australian-built 2004–2016 Territory, not a newer overseas Ford model. Used examples span SX, SY and SZ, plus TX, TS, Ghia, SR, Titanium or Turbo and rear- or all-wheel drive. ‘Ford Territory tyres’ is a starting search, not a fitment answer.

Before looking at tread patterns, identify the series, year, grade and drivetrain. Then compare the driver-door tyre placard with the full sidewall marking. Include the listed wheel diameter in that check. This prevents a correct size for a different Territory being treated as the right size for yours.

235/55R18 is a Territory AWD example, not a whole-range answer

There is a useful concrete reference, provided it is kept in context: Michelin Australia lists 235/55R18 104V for a 2008 Ford Territory AWD. Michelin’s Territory selector also separates Ghia, SR, Titanium, TS, Turbo and TX variants, including RWD and AWD listings. That shows why an 18-inch result can be relevant to some higher-spec or AWD examples without proving it fits every Territory.

If your placard shows a different size, follow it. Older Territories are often bought second-hand and may have replacement wheels, a previous owner’s tyre upgrade or a mismatched spare. The size, load index and speed rating printed on the placard should guide a like-for-like replacement; do not use the 235/55R18 example to override the car.

On an older Territory, the original-specification placard matters more than today’s worn tyre

Ford Australia notes that recommended pressures vary with load, temperature, speed and wheel size, and that the door-frame plate or owner’s manual applies to the original tyre specification. Pressure advice copied from another grade or changed wheel package may not be appropriate. Check pressures cold and investigate irregular shoulder or centre wear before assuming the next set of tyres is the only fix.

Once the original fitment is confirmed, compare compatible tyres around the Territory’s usual work: stable highway running, wet-road confidence, ride quality and reasonable wear when the vehicle carries passengers and luggage. Use Bob Jane’s rego or vehicle lookup to narrow the product grid, then use the tyre-size filter as a cross-check. If the lookup, placard and current sidewall do not agree, ask a qualified fitter to resolve it before ordering.
