ION has seven listings here from $213, and they suit very different vehicles: heavy-duty pickups, older 4x4s and small cars. Read each listing to make sure you have the right one.

What's in the range

• ION 134 and ION 143: 18x9 matte black wheels in the 8x170 pattern. Made for heavy-duty pickups, with load ratings up to about 1,500 kg.
• ION 71: a 16-inch wheel in machined or matte black, in a 5x139.7 pattern.
• ION 14 and ION 20: 14 and 15-inch black wheels in 5x114.3, including a version with a black machined ring.

Who each ION wheel suits

• 8x170 wheels: large pickups with eight-stud hubs. These are not for dual-cab utes.
• 5x139.7: a pattern found on vehicles such as the Suzuki Jimny and older RAM 1500s. Check bore and offset for your model.
• 14 and 15-inch 5x114.3: smaller vehicles that want a plain black steel-look wheel.

Before you buy

• Centre bore. The smaller ION wheels have an 83.82 mm bore. That's larger than most car hubs, so you'll need the right rings.
• Load rating. The 8x170 wheels suit heavy trucks. Smaller wheels carry much lower ratings, so check yours.
• Offset. Confirm it against your vehicle, especially on older 4x4s with flared guards.
• Tyre fit. An 18x9 rim suits wide truck tyres. Make sure your chosen tyre lists a 9-inch rim.

Eight-stud wheels explained

Eight-stud wheels spread heavier loads across more studs. They're used on heavy-duty pickups built for big towing loads.

• 8x170: the pattern used on the Ford Super Duty range.
• Not for dual-cabs: current Australian dual-cab utes don't use eight-stud hubs.
• Tyres to match: heavy-duty trucks usually need LT tyres with a high load index.

If you tow a big van or horse float with a heavy-duty truck, the wheel's load rating matters as much as the tyre's.

Common questions

Will ION wheels fit my dual-cab ute?

Not the current listings. None are in 6x139.7, the pattern most dual-cabs use.

What are hub-centric rings?

They are rings that fill the gap between a wheel's centre bore and your hub. They keep the wheel centred and help prevent vibration.

Is the ION 71 a good Jimny wheel?

It may suit, as it's a 16-inch 5x139.7 wheel. Check the offset and centre bore for your model, and make sure the load rating covers your vehicle.
