A cab-chassis SX and X-Terrain share the D-MAX name, not the same tyre size

The current D-MAX range covers work-focused cab-chassis models, crew-cab utes and higher-spec touring variants, so “D-Max tyres” is too broad to order from safely. Isuzu UTE Australia’s 25.5MY specification lists 255/65 R17 all-terrain tyres for SX and X-Rider, while LS-U, LS-U+ and X-Terrain use 265/60 R18 highway-terrain tyres. The wheel construction changes too: SX has 17-inch steel wheels, X-Rider 17-inch alloys, and the higher grades 18x7.5 alloys. Their rim construction and nominal wheel width also differ by grade.

If one D-MAX tyre is damaged, compare its mate on the same axle for brand, model, size and wear before replacing a single tyre. A similar-looking all-terrain tread is not necessarily a matching specification.

BLADE’s 275/65R17 Duratrac RT package is factory engineering, not a size swap

The D-MAX BLADE is the exception that can make online tyre photos misleading. Isuzu’s current BLADE page specifies Australian-designed 17-inch flow-formed alloys with 275/65R17 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac RT all-terrain tyres, alongside wider wheels and tyres, upgraded suspension and fender flares. That package was developed with Walkinshaw for the BLADE; it is not evidence that 275/65R17 is suitable for an SX, LS-U or X-Terrain. A change in diameter, width or wheel offset needs clearance, load, speedometer and legal-fitment assessment for the exact vehicle.

The BLADE’s advertised 3.5-tonne braked towing capacity is also conditional on the relevant genuine towbar or tow tongue kit and an electronic brake controller. When the ute carries equipment or tows, select only tyres that retain the placard’s required ratings. A rugged tread pattern alone does not answer that loading question.

A D-MAX full-size spare needs a work-ute inspection

Isuzu lists a full-size steel spare on all current D-MAX models. It deserves the same pressure, age and damage check as the four road tyres, especially before a remote job, a gravel run or a tow. Do not assume the spare proves a different wheel package is approved; it is a contingency wheel, not a modification guide.
