The current MU-X has a 17-, 18- and 20-inch wheel ladder
A current Isuzu MU-X cannot be reduced to one replacement size. Isuzu UTE Australia’s 25.5MY sheet lists three distinct grade groups: LS-M has 255/65 R17 all-terrain tyres, LS-U has 265/60 R18 highway-terrain tyres, and LS-T and X-TERRAIN have 265/50 R20 highway-terrain tyres. The wheel widths also move from 17x7 on LS-M to 18x7.5 and 20x7.5 on the higher grades. That spread is especially relevant when an online result is labelled only “MU-X”. The 17-, 18- and 20-inch dimensions also use different width and profile figures, so match every element of the sidewall code rather than selecting by rim diameter.
- LS-M: 255/65 R17 on 17-inch alloys
- LS-U: 265/60 R18 on 18-inch alloys
- LS-T and X-TERRAIN: 265/50 R20 on 20-inch alloys
A full-size MU-X spare changes from steel to alloy by grade
The spare wheel is another grade clue that a product-grid filter cannot replace. Isuzu specifies a full-size steel spare for LS-M and LS-U, and a full-size alloy spare for LS-T and X-TERRAIN. Check its pressure, age and visible condition before a family trip. It is helpful contingency equipment, but it does not authorise a change to another MU-X wheel package. The tyre placard and complete sidewall marking are still the road-tyre references.
Seven seats and 3.5-tonne towing make MU-X pressure checks trip preparation
Every current MU-X is a seven-seat SUV, and Isuzu lists 3.5-tonne braked towing across the range when the genuine tow kit and electronic brake controller requirements are met. Passengers, luggage and towing are therefore reasons to check the owner’s manual and placard before a departure, rather than simply choosing a more aggressive tread. LS-U, LS-T and X-TERRAIN can report individual tyre pressures and temperatures; use that information to investigate a warning, then check pressures cold. It does not replace a physical inspection after damage, a puncture or uneven wear. Before a towing departure, use the placard and owner’s manual to set cold pressures for the actual passenger, cargo and tow-ball load rather than an unloaded commute.
MU-X grade and touring questions
What tyre sizes are listed for the current MU-X?
Isuzu lists 255/65 R17 for LS-M, 265/60 R18 for LS-U, and 265/50 R20 for LS-T and X-TERRAIN. Confirm the year, grade, placard and sidewall on your own SUV.
Does every current MU-X use all-terrain tyres?
No. The current sheet lists all-terrain tyres on LS-M and highway-terrain tyres on LS-U, LS-T and X-TERRAIN. Choose within your confirmed fitment and actual touring or off-road use.
Is the MU-X spare wheel steel or alloy?
LS-M and LS-U are listed with a full-size steel spare; LS-T and X-TERRAIN with a full-size alloy spare. Use the Bob Jane rego or vehicle lookup, then the tyre-size filter and placard, to confirm replacement tyres.
