Look at the door-jamb placard, then confirm it against the sidewall size, load index and speed rating. The 225/55R19 and 235/55R19 differ by 10mm in width, so read the first number. If you are unsure, visit your local Bob Jane T-Marts store and a fitter will check.

Comfort and load capacity

The 225/65R17 has the tallest wall and the softest ride, and it costs the least. The 245/45R20 is the lowest and widest, with sharper steering and a higher price.

For long freeway trips, compare highway tyres, which wear evenly and run quietly. On the Mazda CX-8, for daily running, everyday driving tyres balance grip, comfort and cost.

Pressure with a full load
