A HiAce earns its keep carrying tools, parcels or passengers, so its tyres need the right load rating before anything else. Here is how to choose a set that carries the weight, wears well and keeps the van earning.
Pick a tyre for the work your HiAce does
- City deliveries mean stop-start driving and kerb strikes. Tough van patterns such as the Bridgestone Duravis R660 and Michelin Agilis 3 are built for it.
- Highway courier runs call for long tread life and stable handling when loaded. Compare light commercial tyres.
- Commuter buses carry a full load of people, so they need the placard load rating and a comfortable ride.
- Budget fleets can look at Radar, as long as the tyre meets the placard load index.
Before you buy
- Dual load index. Van tyres often show two figures, such as 109/107. The first is for single fitment, the second for tyres fitted in pairs.
- C or LT marking. A passenger tyre of the same dimensions is not a substitute.
- Speed symbol. Match the placard, even if the van rarely sees the highway.
- Wheelbase and body. Long, super-long and Commuter versions can differ, so check your own placard.
Finding your size
The HiAce tyre placard is usually on the driver's door pillar. Search by rego, or bring the size from the sidewall, and we will show the commercial tyres that suit.
Keeping van tyres working
- Check pressures weekly if the van runs loaded, using the placard's laden figures.
- Rotate at each service to even out wear between the axles.
- Replace any tyre with kerb damage to the sidewall, even if tread remains.
- Keep the spare inflated, because vans can go years without needing it.
HiAce tyre prices cover fitting, balancing, a new tubeless valve per tyre, old-tyre disposal and GST. Fleet operators can book through a nearby Bob Jane T-Marts to keep vans off the road for less time.

Common questions
Can I put passenger tyres on a HiAce?
Only if they meet the placard load index, which is unlikely on most vans. An under-rated tyre can make the van unroadworthy and may affect your insurance.
Why do van tyres have two load numbers?
Because the same tyre can run on its own or in pairs. Match both numbers to the placard.
How long do HiAce van tyres last?
There is no fixed figure, because load, routes and pressures all change it. Check tread depth at every service and replace before the 1.5 mm legal minimum.
