Transmate built the Sport D1 for performance cars, sporty hatches and sedans, with the focus on confident cornering, stable steering and controlled stopping on sealed roads. It suits drivers who enjoy a responsive car on winding roads but spend most of the week in traffic. Find all the Sport D1 sizes on offer on our website, from 15-inch to 20-inch, across more than 35 fitments.
An outer rib for directional control
The Sport D1 uses an asymmetric tread, and its outer rib is there to support directional control when the car is loaded up through a corner. Keeping that shoulder stiff helps the tyre respond cleanly to steering inputs and hold a steady line, which is what sport and performance tyres are built to do. Braking control on bitumen is another stated focus of the design.
Variable pitch for a calmer cabin
Performance tyres can be noisy, so Transmate uses variable-pitch block sizing on the Sport D1. Rather than every tread block being the same length, the sizes change around the tyre, which spreads the noise across a broader range of frequencies. The result is intended to be a less intrusive hum on longer drives.
A wide spread of rim sizes
- 15-inch and 16-inch sizes such as 195/50R15 and 205/55R16 for light hatches
- 17-inch and 18-inch sizes such as 225/40R18 for small and mid-size cars
- 19-inch and 20-inch sizes up to 265/50R20 for larger sedans and crossovers
Most sizes carry a W speed rating. Use the vehicle or tyre size search on this page to narrow the list, then book fitting at your local Bob Jane T-Marts store, where the team can confirm load and speed ratings.
FAQs
Which cars suit the Transmate Sport D1?
Several popular small cars use sizes in this range. The Mazda3 SP25 and G25 grades run 215/45R18, the current Toyota Corolla ZR hatch uses 225/40R18, and the Hyundai i30 N Line hatch also sits on 225/40R18. Larger sedans and crossovers are covered by the 19-inch and 20-inch sizes. Confirm the size on your tyre placard, or ask our store team, before placing an order.
How much do Transmate Sport D1 tyres cost?
Sport D1 tyres start from around $125 per tyre for the 195/55R15 and go up to about $276 for the 265/50R20. Price depends on size, and current pricing for each size is shown in the listing above. Prices include fitting and balancing.
Is the Sport D1 comfortable enough for daily driving?
For most drivers, yes. The variable-pitch tread is designed to keep road noise in check, and the stable handling suits commuting as well as weekend drives. The trade-off is that performance tyres in low profiles, such as the 35 and 40 series sizes here, give a firmer ride over broken roads and leave rims more exposed to kerbs and potholes. If comfort matters more than steering response, a touring tyre with a taller sidewall may suit you better.
