The ADVAN A052 from Yokohama is a street-legal performance tyre developed for circuit days, gymkhana and Targa-style events. It is aimed at drivers who take a road-registered car to timed events and want serious grip without switching to a dedicated race tyre. Yokohama Australia describes it as the successor to the ADVAN A048 R-Spec. Find all the A052 sizes on offer on our website, from 13-inch fitments for small and classic sports cars through to 20-inch sizes for high-powered coupes.
Asymmetric tread with stiff outer ribs
The A052 uses an asymmetric pattern with two high-rigidity outer ribs that widen the contact area when the car is loaded up in a corner. Twin straight inner grooves support straight-line stability and help resist aquaplaning, so the tyre keeps a level of wet-road ability despite its competition focus. The result is a pattern that feels direct on turn-in and holds its shape under hard lateral load.
Managing heat across a session
Lap times tend to drop away once tyres overheat. Yokohama adds thin straight grooves to the A052 to release heat, and pairs them with a sport compound that draws on both its motorsport programme and its BluEarth technology. Yokohama says the tyre performs across a broad range of temperatures, which helps on a cool morning at the track as well as in a hot afternoon session.
Who it is made for

FAQs
Which cars suit the Yokohama ADVAN A052?
Lotus chose the A052 as original equipment on the Elise Cup 250, in 195/50R16 front and 225/45R17 rear, and both sizes are listed here. The range also covers sizes used on the Mazda MX-5 (195/50R16 or 205/45R17), the Toyota 86 GTS (215/45R17) and the Volkswagen Golf GTI (225/40R18). Your tyre placard is the quickest way to confirm the size, and a store can also check it for you.
How much do Yokohama ADVAN A052 tyres cost?
ADVAN A052 tyres start from around $320 per tyre for the 185/60R13 and go up to about $1,073 for the 305/30R20. Price depends on size, and current pricing for each size is shown in the listing above. Prices include fitting and balancing.
Can the ADVAN A052 be used as an everyday road tyre?
It is road legal, and its inner grooves give it some wet-weather capability, so it can be driven to and from events. Its priorities, though, are cornering grip and heat control on the track, and Yokohama classes it as an extreme performance summer tyre that is not intended for near-freezing temperatures, snow or ice. If most of your driving is commuting with the odd track day, the ADVAN Neova AD09 is designed to balance circuit work with everyday street use.
