The ADVAN Sport V103 from Yokohama is a road tyre in the ultra-high-performance class, made for prestige and performance cars and built to hold on in fast corners and on cold, wet roads while keeping the cabin quiet. Compound and construction

Yokohama uses a flexible, durable rubber compound designed to keep its grip across a wide temperature range, which is useful on frosty mornings as well as hot summer afternoons. Underneath, a rayon carcass adds strength for stability at speed and under cornering loads, and a jointless nylon cover sits over the edges of the steel belts.

Four grooves and a quieter ride

Four wide straight grooves run around the tyre to clear water from under the tread, while a five-pitch variation in the block pattern is used to reduce tyre and cabin noise. The tread is asymmetric, so each tyre has a designated outer sidewall that must face outwards when fitted.

Run-flat sizes and the newer V105

Nine of the ten sizes listed are run-flat, built to be driven for a limited distance at reduced speed after losing pressure, so they suit cars designed to run on run-flat tyres without a spare wheel. Yokohama has since introduced the ADVAN Sport V105, which replaced the V103 in most sizes. If your size is not listed here, the ADVAN Sport V105 may cover it. The run-flat sizes, from 195/55R16 to 255/35R18, suit performance and prestige sedans and hatches that are set up for run-flat tyres. The standard-construction 275/45R19 carries Porsche's N0 marking, so it is intended for Porsche models that specify that size and marking. Run-flat and standard tyres are generally not mixed on one vehicle, so check your tyre placard or ask a store to confirm the right size before you order.

The trade-off with the run-flat sizes is that their reinforced sidewalls can feel firmer over bumps than a standard tyre. It is a road tyre, not one designed for snow or unsealed tracks.
