Tyre Sizes That Fit This Collection

Read the size, load index and speed rating on your current sidewall, then compare them with the door-jamb placard. An XL tyre can stand in for a standard one only if the load index stays at or above the original. For help with the markings, visit your local Bob Jane T-Marts store.

XL tyres and the 19 or 20-inch choice

XL means extra load: the tyre is reinforced to carry more weight at a given pressure. It is a different build from a standard tyre of the same size, and it usually costs a little more.

The 20-inch 245/45R20 has a shorter sidewall than the 19-inch pair, so expect a firmer ride and more road texture. Tyres labelled for EVs, such as EV tyres, are one more option, so compare wet grip and noise ratings alongside efficiency.

Front and rear pairs

Where the front and rear sizes differ, the tyres cannot be rotated front to back. Treat each axle as its own pair, and replace both tyres on an axle together.

Keep a note of the date code on each tyre. It is a four-digit number showing the week and year of manufacture, and rubber hardens with age even when tread remains. A wheel alignment check after fitting helps the new tyres wear evenly.
