BYD Sealion 7 Premium tyres are different front to rear

The BYD Sealion 7 is not a vehicle to shop for as one generic set of four tyres. On the Premium grade, the factory fitment is staggered: 235/50R19 at the front and 255/45R19 at the rear. Front and rear tyres are not interchangeable. Record both axle specifications before selecting replacements.

The Performance grade uses a square 245/45R20 setup, which is a different arrangement again. The grade and axle therefore matter as much as the model name. Your vehicle placard, handbook and current sidewalls remain the final authority for the particular Sealion 7 in front of you.

For a Premium, do not select four identical tyres because the rear tyres look similar to the fronts. Keep the original front/rear relationship, including the specified load and speed ratings. A staggered setup also means a normal front-to-rear rotation pattern is not appropriate: a 235/50R19 front tyre cannot simply move to a rear wheel designed for 255/45R19.

Once the fitment is settled, choose around how the electric SUV is used. A quiet tread pattern can matter more in an EV cabin, while wet-road performance and the correct load rating should take precedence over a cosmetic tread choice. If your travel is mainly commuter kilometres, look for a tyre suited to regular sealed-road use. For frequent country driving, discuss the expected road surface and distances with a tyre professional rather than changing size or construction on assumption.

What a staggered setup changes when tyres wear or need replacement

Uneven wear does not turn the Premium into a square-fitment vehicle. Inspect each axle separately and ask whether the tyres being retained have compatible condition and specification. If one tyre is damaged, get advice before mixing it with tyres of a different size, construction or remaining tread. The handbook cautions against using different tyre dimensions from those recommended by the manufacturer.
