BYD Shark 6 tyres are listed in five sizes, all wide and tall, across 18 and 20-inch rims. They are heavy-duty sizes, so load index and pressure matter more than usual.
Tyre Sizes That Fit This Collection
One factory size, 265/65R18, comes first, followed by four optional sizes up to 285/55R20.
- 265/65R18 tyres: factory fitment, 2024 onwards
- 275/55R20 tyres: also listed as a fit, 2024 onwards
- 275/65R18 tyres: also listed as a fit, 2024 onwards
- 285/55R20 tyres: also listed as a fit, 2024 onwards
- 285/65R18 tyres: also listed as a fit, 2024 onwards
Look at the placard, then read the sidewall for the size, load index and speed rating. The 265/65R18, 275/65R18 and 285/65R18 differ only in width, so read the first number carefully. A Bob Jane T-Marts store near you can confirm the size if you are unsure.
Wide tyres, load and grip
The 18-inch sizes have taller walls that cushion rough surfaces and cost less. The 20-inch sizes have shorter, wider walls with sharper steering and a higher price.
For mixed roads, compare all-terrain tyres for balanced grip. If most of your driving is on sealed roads, highway tyres are quieter and wear more evenly.
Pressure, load and rotation
For the BYD Shark 6, check pressures cold and set them for the load you carry. A heavier load needs the higher figure listed beside the placard.
Rotate every 10,000km or so to keep wear even across the set, and replace in pairs or full sets. Large tyres are expensive, so catching uneven wear early saves real money.
Large tyres cost more to replace, so look after them. Ask for the tread to be checked across the full width at each service, and have the wheel balance checked if you feel a vibration at highway speed.
Treat the spare as a fifth tyre, checking its pressure and date code each time you check the others.
Every model has its own tyre list. For another BYD, the BYD SEALION 5 tyres, BYD SEALION 8 tyres and BYD Atto 3 tyres pages each show their own sizes and fitted prices.
FAQs
What size tyres does a BYD Shark 6 take?
The factory size listed is 265/65R18, with 275/55R20, 275/65R18, 285/55R20 and 285/65R18 as options. Check your placard for yours.
How much do BYD Shark 6 tyres cost?
BYD Shark 6 tyres start at $264 and go up to $772 each. Prices include fitting, balancing, tubeless valves, GST and disposal of the old tyres, whichever size you choose.
Do wider tyres change anything?
They add grip on sealed roads but can be noisier and use a little more fuel. On the BYD Shark 6, stay with sizes on the list so the overall diameter stays correct.
