Hyundai Staria tyres are listed in two sizes, across 18 and 19-inch rims. With only two to choose from, the decision is mostly about your wheel size and how much sidewall you want.
Tyre Sizes That Fit This Collection
The factory size is 235/55R18, and the optional size is 245/50R19.
- 235/55R18 tyres: factory fitment, 2021 onwards
- 245/50R19 tyres: also listed as a fit, 2021 onwards
Look up the original size on the placard in the door jamb, then match the sidewall marking, load index and speed rating. The two sizes differ in width, profile and rim size, so read every number. To have a fitter confirm it, visit your local Bob Jane T-Marts store and a fitter will check.
Comfort and load capacity
The 235/55R18 has the taller wall, which cushions bumps and costs less. The 245/50R19 is lower and wider, with sharper steering and a higher price.
Loaded tyres need the correct pressure, so use the higher figure on the placard for a full load. For long freeway trips, highway tyres wear evenly and run quietly, and everyday driving tyres suit commuting.
Even wear and tyre age
Rotate every 10,000km or so and check pressures cold every month. Even wear keeps the set working for longer.
Read the date code on each tyre, since rubber ages whether or not the tread wears. Replace in pairs or full sets with matching tread.
Look across the whole tread width for wear on one side only, which can point to an alignment problem.
When you collect new tyres, ask the fitter to show you the date code. A tyre made within the last year or two will serve you longest.
If you carry a full load often, a stronger tyre with a higher load rating is worth asking about, and the fitter can check the options against the placard.
If you are tyre shopping for more than one Hyundai, the Hyundai Palisade tyres page and the Hyundai Santa Fe tyres page keep each list separate.
