Built to go the distance
Longevity is central to the Primacy 5. Michelin developed it as the successor to the Primacy 4+, with longer wear as one of its aims. Michelin credits its Functional Elastomers 3.0 compound and Long Lasting Sculpture for Wet tread design with the tyre's wet handling, with the compound also contributing to energy efficiency.
Wet braking, new and worn
Wet braking is a major focus for Michelin with the Primacy 5. The tread is designed to stop confidently from 80 km/h on wet roads when new and to hold on to that performance as it wears. Michelin tested it on a Honda Accord and on a Toyota Fortuner in 265/60R18, a size listed here, which shows the design carries across to larger SUV fitments.
Quiet in town and on the highway
Silent Rib Gen 3 and a revised tread pattern are designed to reduce vibration and road noise, which is especially noticeable in an EV. Lower rolling resistance also helps fuel use and EV range. Sixteen listings carry EV markings. Use the vehicle or tyre size search on this page to find your fitment, then book fitting at your local Bob Jane T-Marts store.
FAQs
Which cars suit the Michelin Primacy 5?
Listed sizes cover the Toyota Corolla (205/55R16), Toyota RAV4 (225/65R17), Mazda CX-5 (225/65R17) and Toyota LandCruiser Prado (265/65R17) on grades with those wheel sizes, along with many other sedans, SUVs and EVs. Confirm the size and load rating on your tyre placard, or ask our store team, before placing an order.
How much do Michelin Primacy 5 tyres cost?
Primacy 5 tyres start from around $210 per tyre for the 215/60R16 and go up to about $705 for the 285/45R22. Price depends on size, and current pricing for each size is shown in the listing above. Prices include fitting and balancing.
Is the Primacy 5 suited to a large 4WD wagon?
For a 4WD wagon that spends its life on sealed roads, the larger Primacy 5 sizes offer a quiet, comfortable alternative to a light truck tyre. The trade-off is that it uses passenger construction and a road tread, so it is not designed for rocky tracks, deep sand or heavy towing at maximum load. If your wagon regularly heads off the bitumen, an all-terrain tyre is the more suitable choice.
