Q3 owners need a tyre that suits Audi's chassis tuning, carries the right approval mark and meets the car's speed rating. An everyday Q3 and an RS Q3 call for very different tyres.
Audi tyre markings
- AO marks a tyre developed with Audi. It is the closest match to the factory setup.
- RO1 appears on tyres approved for some RS models.
Which tyre suits your Q3
- Everyday Q3 and Sportback. Premium touring tyres from Michelin, Continental or Pirelli keep the ride smooth.
- RS Q3. It needs a high speed rating and a grippy compound. Browse sport and performance tyres.
- Run-flat equipped cars. If yours has no spare, see run-flat tyres.
- Wet roads. European touring tyres with strong wet braking suit Q3s driven year-round.
Before you buy
- Speed rating. Never fit a lower rating than the placard.
- quattro wear. On all-wheel-drive Q3s, keep all four tyres close in tread depth.
- Low profiles. Larger wheels mean thinner sidewalls, so pothole damage is more likely.
- Axle pairs. Replace tyres on each axle together.
- Load index. Meet the placard figure.
Finding the right size
Check your Q3's placard in the driver's door opening, or the tyre sidewall. A rego search lists tyres that suit your model.
Sportback and wagon versions can run different wheel options, so check the placard.
Looking after Q3 tyres
- Replace tyres before the tread reaches the wear bars, and sooner on an RS Q3 driven hard.
- Check pressures monthly with a gauge, because low-profile tyres hide under-inflation.
- Rotate where front and rear sizes match, to keep quattro wear even.
- Have the alignment checked after a pothole strike or when fitting new tyres.
Q3 tyre prices cover fitting, balancing, tubeless valves, disposal of the old tyres and GST. A Bob Jane T-Marts near you can look for AO or RO1 marks on your current set.

Common questions
Do I have to fit AO tyres?
No. Any tyre in the correct size, load index and speed rating is legal, but AO tyres match Audi's tuning most closely.
Can an RS Q3 run touring tyres?
Only if they meet its speed rating, which most touring tyres in RS sizes won't. A performance tyre is the safer choice.
Why are my Q3's tyres wearing on the inside edge?
Often it's alignment settings or worn suspension parts. Ask for an alignment check when you replace them.
