BYD Sealion 6 tyres are listed in two sizes, across 19 and 20-inch rims. With only two to choose from, the decision is mostly about your wheel size and whether you want the extra load rating of an XL tyre.

Tyre Sizes That Fit This Collection

The factory size is 235/50R19, and the optional size is 235/45R20 XL.

235/50R19 tyres: factory fitment, 2024 onwards
235/45R20 XL tyres: also listed as a fit, 2024 onwards

Start with the placard in the door jamb, and match it to the load index and speed rating printed on the sidewall. The XL marking means the tyre has a higher load rating for its size, so keep it if your placard calls for one. If you want it confirmed, find a store near you and a fitter will check.

What XL means on a tyre

An XL tyre is built to carry more weight at a given pressure than a standard tyre. Fitting a standard tyre where the placard asks for an XL can overload it, so match the marking.

The 235/50R19 has the taller wall and cushions bumps better, while the 235/45R20 XL is lower and sharper. For daily running, compare everyday driving tyres, and for a quieter ride on the freeway, highway tyres.

Pressure and even wear

Check pressures cold once a month and set them to the placard figure. Under-inflation is the most common cause of premature wear on the shoulders.

Look at the tread across its full width, and read the date code on every tyre. Replace in pairs or full sets with the same size and tread pattern.

Rotating every 10,000km or so evens out wear between front and rear.

A fitter can balance each wheel and check the valves while the old tyres are off, which prevents most vibrations and slow leaks.
