Four designs to know

• Legend (F104, F105): the most widely stocked. Chrome plated or gloss black milled.
• Knuckle (F097, F099): chrome plated or matte gunmetal machined.

Before you buy

• Load rating. Ratings are 725 to 862 kg, which suits cars and SUVs, not loaded utes.
• Staggered fitment. Different widths front and rear mean different tyre sizes, so you can't rotate tyres between axles.
• Brake clearance. Classic cars often have less room. Check offset and spoke clearance against your brakes.
• Tyre size. Pick tyres that keep your car's original rolling diameter, so the speedo reads true.

Getting a staggered set right

A staggered set uses wider wheels on the rear. It suits rear-wheel-drive cars and gives the classic muscle-car stance.

• Keep rolling diameters close. Modern ABS and traction systems expect the front and rear to turn at similar speeds.
• Plan for wear. You can't rotate tyres front to rear, so the rears often wear out first.
