The Monster Alpha is a 17-inch 4x4 wheel for heavy touring builds, and all 22 listings are rated to 1,500 to 1,600 kg per wheel. Prices start from $459.
Why the load rating matters
A touring ute with a canopy, drawers, water and a fridge can weigh far more than it did in the showroom. Standard ute wheels often carry lower ratings. The Alpha gives you more headroom for that extra weight.
Four wheels at 1,500 kg add up to 6,000 kg of wheel capacity. Your axle ratings and GVM still set the legal limit, so check those figures too.
Fitments
- 6x139.7: most of the range, for the Prado, HiLux, Ranger and D-MAX.
- 5x150: three listings for the LandCruiser 70 and 200 Series.
- Offsets from about -22 to +40: a higher positive offset sits close to factory, while negative offsets widen the stance.
Unsure which offset suits? Start with the one closest to your factory wheel.
Finishes
- Gloss black with a black tint: dark and glossy.
- Silver machined: bright detail on the face.
- Satin black: low-key and easy to keep clean.
- Raw mirror machined: a bare, polished-metal look.
Before you buy
- Match the tyres to the wheels. Choose a load-rated all-terrain tyre or a light truck tyre with a suitable load index.
- Weigh your loaded vehicle if you are near GVM. A public weighbridge gives a quick answer.
- Pick a moderate offset for heavy touring, which is kinder to bearings and steering parts.
- Order a fifth wheel for the spare so you can rotate all five.
Who the Alpha suits
- Canopy and drawer builds: the extra weight sits over the rear axle all the time.
- Caravan towing: ball weight adds load to the rear wheels.
- Remote touring: fuel, water and recovery gear add up quickly.
- Standard daily utes: may not need it, and a lighter-rated wheel can save money.
Common questions
Do I need an Alpha for a standard dual-cab?
Not always. If your ute stays near factory weight, a standard wheel may be enough, but heavy touring builds benefit.
Where is the rest of the Monster range?
See the Monster Off Road range, or compare American Outlaw for other high-rated wheels. Browse 17-inch wheels, or ask your nearest Bob Jane T-Marts store.
Which Alpha finish is best for touring?
Satin black is the easiest to keep tidy on dusty tracks. Raw mirror machined looks great but shows scratches.
Will the Alpha fit a Prado?
Yes. The Prado uses 6x139.7, the main Alpha pattern, so confirm the offset and brake clearance for your series.
